Ms. Céline Rivat, Pro Bono Legal Consultant
Ms. Rivat is a French lawyer who has been specializing in international criminal law, human rights and humanitarian law for the past 10 years. She has worked as a legal officer in several defence teams at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, Special Tribunal for Lebanon and International Criminal Court. She has also served as trial counsel in civil, criminal and labour litigation cases domestically. In the past years she turned to victims’ work, completing several legal consultancies for NGOs. She helped develop the gender justice participatory project with women victims of human rights violations in Myanmar for Asia Justice and Rights, a regional organisation promoting human rights in South East Asia. She also assisted the legal team of the Comité Contre l’Esclavage Moderne, handling individual cases of modern slavery and human trafficking in France. She more recently worked as a legal officer at the trial chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, assisting judges in completing the Khieu Samphan and Nuon Chea judgment and trial proceedings.
