Nicolás Süssmann Herrán

Mr. Süssmann has dedicated his education and work to criminal law, international criminal law, international humanitarian law, human rights, transnational criminal law and transitional justice. He worked as assistant to Dean Catalina Botero, former IACHR rapporteur for freedom of expression, and coordinator of the Constitution & Democracy Program of Universidad de los Andes Law School. Also, he has experience as law clerk and consultant in criminal law, international criminal law and corruption. He has several academic publications in these fields. In law school, he worked several years as teacher assistant and researcher of criminal law area and the Cesare Beccaria research group and was member of the individual criminal law clinic.

Mr. Süssmann holds an LLB with meritorious thesis mention and a BA in Philosophy from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). He also holds a specialist degree in criminal law from Universidad Sergio Arboleda (Bogotá, Colombia). Mr. Süssmann is LLM candidate in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam with certificate in International Criminal Law by Columbia University.
